Contract BIM Work - DC

An Architect and Structural Engineer are starting a business for contract work that will focus on providing a variety of BIM services. They are located in Washington DC, but are open to providing services outside of the area. They have both worked in design firms as well as providing consulting support services to a wide variety of clientele, ranging from national A/E firms to government agencies. They both have 5-6 years experience in Architectural design and BIM related workflows in both residential and commercial design.

One partner will be focusing on the BIM processes for structural engineers, while the other partner will be focusing on the architectural side of BIM. The services that they offer are:

Process Delivery Architect / BIM/Database Manager - Cannon Design

Description of the Role

Within the Firm
  • Active member of a group of Cannon Designers to organize and maintain our digital data (room types, families and parameters). Development and maintenance of our digital template database.
  • Works with the firm QA/QC, BIM and technical leadership to develop and implement standards and firm-wide “room and asset data management” organization.
  • Assists in training other project teams in project database set up, content creation and use of digital database tools.
  • Works with the firm QA/QC, BIM and technical leadership to develop and implement standards.
Within the Project Team
  • Leadership position within the team and potentially with other teams to integrate digital delivery methods with the design process.
  • Works with the project QA/QC, BIM and technical leadership to develop and implement standards.
  • Works with PM on schedule, process, protocols, delivery of the project at all phases
  • Works with project team to assure key data will be tracked for all deliverables
  • Oversees training, project set up, content creation, co-manage all data links with the database

  • Team training, report running, content adding for all database needs within the project and outreach to the rest of the firm
  • Collect and manage data information from building modeling and coordinate distribution during design through facilities construction. Work will cross check existing data provided by client with live data from models as well as manipulation of building data.
  • Front-line team contact and coordinating ascertaining team needs and creating solutions
  • Client interaction for cost estimates, FF&E, and compliance tracking of data provided and generated through the process.
Skills
  • Highly skilled in Revit 2012 Architecture or later version with some working knowledge of Revit Structural and MEP functions within Revit
  • Ability to build and run Revit Shared Parameters, including the building of related files, documentation thereof, and editing of Type-based Revit families
  • Complete project delivery understanding to include but not limited to Revit models, multiple model setups, Revit templating (for both Families and RVT files), phasing and scheduling within Revit
  • Experienced in Revit Family building and basic principles of Revit Families
  • Experience or training in Onuma Planning Systems, CodeBook, dRofus, and/or Trelligence Affinity (multiple software experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of MSAccess, Excel, and SQL (or PostGreSQL)
  • Experience with, certification or training in CAFM/CMSS (facilities management/maintenance software) such as Maximo, Archibus, Ecodomus, FM:Systems, or TMA
  • Understanding of database languages and principles of database management, education or classes in SQL or equivalent training preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical
  • Ability to understand and manage semantic code language principles
Credentials
  • Architecture or construction degree or experience in the AECOO (building construction) industry
  • Experience with complex built/building projects over 500,000 sf
  • Previous project management experience, certification as CAPM, PPM, or PgPM preferred
  • Previous construction document experience
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to run multiple projects at one time
  • Understanding global connectivity of BIM processes and awareness of new technologies
  • Advanced experience with database software such as Microsoft Access, SQL, PostGreSQL
  • Experience generating formulas in Microsoft Excel
  • Additional experience with eSPECS or Navisworks Manage encouraged, certifications preferred in any Autodesk software
  • Exposure to online document management software such as Aconex, Bentley Projectwise, Autodesk Vault or Buzzsaw
  • Advanced Autodesk 2012 Certification (or later) in Revit, confirmation of capabilities performing tasks as outlined by Autodesk accreditation for certified professional in Revit
  • Ability to travel

BIM Manager - Corbis Global - San Diego

We are searching for a BIM Manager to lead a dynamic, collaborative, team-focused work environment in San Diego, California. This is a project focused position with substantial upside for strategic, long term business leadership leveraging BIM technology.

We are looking for a BIM Manager who can:

  • Develop project specific implementation direction and guide project teams to ensure BIM success
  • Oversee and/or manage model data to coordinate multiple disciplines on projects
  • Oversee and/or directly collaborate and communicate with other Technical Services departments to deliver and/or manage BIM data
  • Work with clients to design and ensure the implementation of the BIM strategy, BIM Execution Plan and procedures through project completion
  • Work closely with counterparts from the group of consultants to ensure cohesive and consistent information throughout the project
  • Provide oversight on BIM work-flow within the project
  • Setup and direct BIM projects
  • Continue to develop “best practices” for BIM
  • Research and develop BIM standards and processes
  • QA/QC – Data Integrity
  • Lead BIM project Kick-off meetings as required
  • Evaluate project team development; identify areas requiring further skill development
  • Oversee implementation of new or updated standards with project teams
  • Provide strategic and long term planning for business growth and development
  • Planning and advancement of BIM training for internal and external development

Successful candidates must have:

  • Experience and ability to manage a large team and assist the Project Manager.
  • Experience in adopting the BIM process in large projects during their lifecycle from design to operation
  • Experience in office leadership at project and organizational levels
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Revit/Navisworks including 3D modeling, clash detection and consultant coordination,
  • At least 2+ years of experience at similar position.
  • Experience with Analysis and Simulation software such as Ecotect and Green Building Studio, Vasari, QTO, etc is a plus.
  • A Professional Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction, is a plus

CADD experience in A/E/C environment as well as Experience in delivering Design software implementations is desired.

BIM Manager - VSWC Architects - Ohio


VSWC is an established Architectural Firm and they are seeking an experienced BIM Manager to expand their current use of BIM (ArchiCAD), and manage their transition to Revit. Your responsibilities will include hardware and software pertaining to BIM system, establishment of company-wide BIM standards, training of 3-D drafting personnel, and 3-D drafting of large commercial projects.

You must be proficient in BIM systems, particularly Revit. Experience with ArchiCAD is a plus. Experience completing construction documents is also extremely desirable.
